I'm realizing that I hardly ever write on here to give updates on Matthew and am going to try to do so more often. The baby book is gathering dust so I guess I will use his blog as a way to record his progress.
Matthew is 2 1/2 and talking all the time. He is really tall for his age and most people guess him to be at least 3. At the beginning of the year we were concerned that he wasn't talking enough and now he is never quiet!! He says full sentences of up to 7-8 words and is easily understood. If you ask him "Matthew do you like this?" He'll respond "Uh huh I do!!" Too cute and always gets a laugh from all of us.
He loves trucks and cars and loves to ride on trains and ponies. We have done a lot this summer with him going to the fairs and the zoo. He has rode a pony 7 seven times and trains more times than I can count. He is a huge animal lover and enjoys seeing animals while we are out and about. Just yesterday we were in Breckenridge at an art festival and Matthew was running towards his Dad when he came to a screeching halt to stop and pet a dog that was in his line of sight. He patted the dog for a second and was off running again.
Matthew also received his first set of stitches this year and I hope his last!! :) He was riding on his vroom vroom (a truck that he sat on and pushed with his legs) and got going really fast and hit a bad patch of concrete. The vroom vroom stopped, however, Matthew did not and was thrown forward and had a cut on his chin. He had three stitches and was a champ through the whole ordeal. He had the stitches out in a week and ended up with a small scar that we all say is really cool. Matthew will tell you he "fall down on vroom vroom-vroom vroom naughty!!"
We have had an exciting summer and cannot believe that football season is here! We have went on a few little trips and Matthew is a good traveler. We have visited Okoboji, Denver, and Breckenridge with many trips to Hastings to see Grandma and Grandpa. We try and do as many fun things as we can when we go away and Matthew has been on a jet ski, a boat, he has bowled and miniature golfed, rode a go cart with Mom and by himself, and these are to name a few.
We also have had some major changes this year with Matt accepting a position in Columbus with the optometric center there. Matt has been driving every day since January to and from Lincoln. In June we sold our home in Lincoln and if I did not have amazing in-laws we would have been homeless. We have been living with Nana and Papa since the end of July and will miss them terribly when we move into our new home next Friday. We are very excited for our new house and Matthew talks about it all the time. It is a 5 bedroom ranch in a quiet neighborhood about 2 minutes from Matt's work. Matthew will continue to go to part time daycare and I am on the look for a part time job. We can't wait to be there and settled!
Hope everyone is doing well! :)
